As much as I love bold lips, I absolutely love the simplicity and elegance of nude lips. I love the chic look of “no makeup makeup” nude lips. But it hasn’t been so easy for me to find the perfect nude lip look. For so long, I have been searching for the perfect nude lipstick that didn’t wash me out or make me look pale and sickly. However, after much experimenting and to my great delight, I have finally found the perfect recipe to wearing nude lipstick on my dark skin, thanks to these 3 easy steps.
Step 1: Exfoliate and Moisturize Lips: This starts with prepping your lip canvas. It is important to prepare a smooth and well moisturized canvas by exfoliating and moisturizing your lips. I usually exfoliate either using a scrub or an old toothbrush. And then moisturize my lips using Aquaphor.
Step 2: Line Lips with Brown and Nude Lip liner: For me, this is the most important step to wearing nude lips. I always start out by lining my entire lips with a nude lip liner, so as to strip down the natural color of my lips. My favorite is MAC Stripdown (no pun intended lol). If you don’t have a nude lip liner, you can also use concealer to help mute the natural color of your lips. After I strip down the natural color from my lips, I then follow up with lining the outer parts of my lips using a brown lip liner like MAC Chestnut. This brown lip liner adds great depth to the lips.
Step 3: Apply Nude Lipstick & Coat with a Nude or Clear Lipgloss: This is my favorite part of the process. I find that as long as I line my lips properly with both a nude and brown lip liner, all nude lipsticks I apply afterwards just looks seamless on my lips. I use so many different nude lipsticks, but my absolute favorites are MAC Jubilee and NARS Honolulu Honey. And as I am so addicted to lip gloss, my final step is to apply MAC C-Thru Glass.
Enjoy life joyously & deliciously,
